Homing Pigeon

The night befalls
The city of fear
As a wave of shadow
Dances through the air,
Bringing dreams of insanity
And tragic nightmares.

I lay by the window,
Watching my message soar
Into crystalline oblivion,
Carried by a meek rock dove.

She dips between buildings,
Towering, menacing figures,
Ignorant to the villainous world
As iron shrapnel flies around her.

Her only thought is to return home;
She follows the song
Emanating from your heart,
An invisible path ingrained into her memories,
As she has done countless times before.
