Literature Text

My steps are saturated in scarlet ink,
Staining the earth like a fountain pen
Bleeding through silken paper.
The world is emblazoned
In my frivolous agony;
Drenched in tears
That hold no meaning.
Written for Poem-A-Day's Weekly Prompts. Prompt was to write a free verse poem about "footsteps marked in ink".

tWR Critique Questions:
-Is the poem too short to get the message across or is it a good length?
-What's the first thing that comes to mind when reading it?
-Does the imagery work?

My tWR "critique": comments.deviantart.com/1/4836…

The poem for me is not too short I like poems that condense a lot into a short space longer poems are more difficult to master

The first thing that comes to my mind is someone pretentious or someone who thinks they have no meaning, or their meaning has been lost and I'll explain why their agony is frivolous and their tears hold no meaning. Their words and movement are art itself, they are the poem yet they feel they have no meaning ?

yes the imagery works very much so it poses a lot of questions and entices the reader to Reread the poem to grasp it's meaning

good job
